Post-screening Q&A with actor-filmmaker Roy Assaf on Zoom
Director: Roy Assaf
2024, Israel, 90 minutes
Hebrew with English subtitles
Feature
Acclaimed Israeli actor Roy Assaf (Matchmaking, The Kind Words) co-writes and stars in his feature directing debut about a high school drama teacher who stages vivid cabaret shows in his Israeli town’s community center. When a comment to his students makes him a target of social media rage, his art and life merge in escalating performances of 21st-Century anxiety.
Assaf sings, dances, juggles, and monologues in a virtuosic performance, shot with Ophir-Award-winning cinematography inspired by the Oscar-winning Birdman.
