Join Greater Columbus Right to Life for the annual Roe Remembrance event at the Ohio Statehouse on the West Lawn (the side of the Statehouse facing High Street). This year we are anticipating some extraordinarily exciting guests, which we will announce in a few days.
In order to ensure that we can observe health precautions and comply with Ohio's health orders and the Statehouse event guidelines, we will be holding the Roe Remembrance outside. Attendees who are normally subjected to Ohio's mask order (adults and older students without medical exceptions) will be asked to wear a mask or appropriate face covering (we suggest a scarf anyway!). We will also ask that participants observe reasonable social distancing measures. These are requirements by CSRAB policy.
As usual, you may not bring dangerous items or things that could damage the historic Statehouse with you. This includes weapons, poles, stickers, chalk, etc. Students and Respect Life Group representatives may bring their banners or identification signs (like for the march), but are asked to leave removable poles and sticks home.
Note that this is a permitted event on the Statehouse grounds. Those who would prefer not to participate respectfully or abide by Statehouse rules and GCRTL standards will be asked to locate to an area outside of the GCRTL event permit. Ohio State Highway Patrol officers and CSCRAB staff will be on site and may assist with enforcement. In addition, we are aware of reports of armed protests the 16th-20th at the Ohio Statehouse to protest the election. While we pray that all demonstrations are as peaceful as ours, we will continue to monitor the situation and will respond by moving or cancelling if there is an unsafe situation.
If you plan to attend, please dress appropriately for the weather, keeping in mind that the west corridor of the Statehouse can be very windy. We will plan to continue with the outdoor event unless a governmental order precludes it, there are sub-zero temperatures, a level 3 snow emergency, an active thunder and lightening storm, or an other serious risk to public safety is happening. We will note changes via our email list, our website, our Facebook page, and this event page.
If you cannot attend this year, we will plan to carry the feed live on our Facebook and YouTube pages. In the event that the in-person event is not possible, we still plan to live stream our speakers.
2020 was a year of lots of unexpected twists and turns, and 2021 is starting out the same way. If we have difficulty with our live feed, we will upload the program for viewing later.
In 2021, it is more essential than ever that we continue with the work of ending abortion and protecting all innocent human life.
