Whitaker, currently a Professor of Jazz Bass and Director of Jazz Studies at Michigan State University, has shaped one of the top jazz programs in the world. His impressive career includes performances and recordings with legends like Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Heath, Diana Krall, and Branford Marsalis, as well as a nomination for an Emmy in 2011.Recently inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Whitaker’s influence as both a performer and educator spans the globe. A former member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis’ Septet, he has appeared on over 100 recordings and continues to inspire the next generation of musicians with his master classes and live performances.
