JG & the Ultimates are a Rockin' Rhythm & Blues band from South London, formed in 2012 and fronted by guitarist Jay Gipson. Jay has been playing guitar, singing and performing for almost 40 years both as a sideman, solo artist and currently with 'The Ultimates' in an ensemble. Their musicial style is immersed in the retro sounds of the 40's, 50's & 60's with a strong leaning towards the bluesier side of rock & roll, swing, blues and according to Jay, "Good old greasy vintage R&B".The core band members remain mostly unchanged from the original line up with the addition of some of the finest players and faces on the scene, guesting from gig to gig. JG & the Ultimates debut album, "Ripe on the Vine" was originally released solely on CD but will be available very soon for the first time, online to download. They're latest recording, "Devil in Me" (a 5-track EP) is currently being very well received on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
They've performed at The Rhythm Riot Weekender, Atomic Festival, Elsass Festival-France, Kustom Kulture Blast-Off, The Hot Rock ‘n’ Boogie, Rivoli Ballroom Jive Party and many clubs, pubs and other events.
For their matinee show at the Garibaldi Hotel they'll be performing as a six-piece band…
