Hike Rockbound Lake - moderate pace. Description: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/canada/alberta/rockbound-lake
Meet at Two Jack Lake campsite at 8 am. I have a campsite booked. Will leave as a group to the trailhead.
Sunday - option to hike Iceberg Lake.
Recommendations for what to bring:
🧭 Navigation & Communication
• Downloaded offline maps (e.g., AllTrails, Google Maps, Gaia GPS)
• Fully charged phone + power bank
• Whistle (in case of emergency)
• Emergency contact card
🎒 Backpack Gear (20-30L pack recommended)
• Bear spray (carry on your hip or shoulder strap – not inside your pack!)
• Trekking poles (very helpful for high elevation)
• First aid kit (include blister pads, antihistamines, pain relievers)
• Lighter + waterproof matches
• Duct tape (wrap a bit around your trekking pole or water bottle)
• Toilet kit: TP, hand sanitizer, ziplock or WAG bag
💧 Water & Nutrition
• 2L of water minimum (consider hydration bladder + 1L backup bottle)
• Water filter or purification tablets
• High-calorie snacks (energy bars, trail mix, jerky, dried fruit)
• Hearty lunch (wrap, sandwich, or freeze-dried option)
• Electrolyte tablets or drink mix
• Small treat or “morale booster” (chocolate, gummies, etc.)
🥾 Clothing (Dress in Layers)
What to Wear:
• Moisture-wicking shirt (synthetic or merino)
• Hiking pants or leggings
• Hiking socks (wool or synthetic)
• Trail runners or hiking boots (must be broken in)
In Your Pack:
• Lightweight fleece or down jacket
• Rain jacket (essential — mountain weather changes fast)
• Extra hiking socks
• Lightweight gloves
• Buff or neck gaiter
• Toque/beanie (mornings and summits can be cold even in August)
🌞 Sun & Bug Protection
• Hat with brim
• Sunglasses
• Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
• Lip balm with SPF
• Bug spray (especially near wooded or marshy areas)
🐻 Wildlife Safety
• Bear spray (already checked ✅)
• Know how to make noise: talk often, especially in brushy or windy areas
• Hike close together and avoid splitting up
• Food in odor-proof bags
• Don’t leave scraps or garbage — Leave No Trace
📌 Optional but Helpful
• Sit pad or lightweight tarp for breaks
• Lightweight towel or bandana
• Small garbage bag for your own trash
• Camera or phone tripod if you like taking photos
• Comfy shoes to change into after the hike
• Babywipes (if the trail is dusty, you’ll be happy to wash your face and hands)
🚎 Carpooling may be available. Check with others who are attending. Someone might be offering.
❌️ If you are a rider, please be curtious and DO NOT bail out the early morning of the event. This is not only taking a spot from someone else, but it puts stress on those driving, and is rather not so nice and can ruin a ride for you, for the next event. We get it. Emergencies do happen. Please be respectful. ❌️
👍 If you are attending, please mark 'going' so we all know who's attending.
🥺 If you can't make it, please change your response to not going . This is a requirement for ALL my posted events. An explanation is never needed, unless you choose to share.

DISCLAIMER: You are fully aware that the event maker is a volunteer and not a trained guide. You assume all responsibility for your own safety and well-being, on the trail &/or car-pooling. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions, current weather conditions, your current physical condition, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip and you are responsible for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you're physically fit to participate with the group
