About this Event

Robotic Revolution 2 aims to bring together all the companies, talents, thought leaders and investors interested on the future of Robotics into one room to discuss how Robotics is impacting our work and life and how we can be a part of it.

As the Technology in Robotics progresses each day, we see more and more amazing new robotic systems and applications emerging, breaking new barriers of what can be done using Robotics. How can engineers, technologists in Singapore be a part of it?

Prof Quek Tong Boon, Chief Executive of the National Robotics Program will sharing some opening remarks to kickstart the program.

About Prof Quek Tong Boon:
Professor Quek Tong Boon has been the Chief Scientific Advisor of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and also the Chief Executive of the National Robotics Programme since 2017.

Prof Quek Tong Boon was previously the Chief Defence Scientist and the Chief Research & Technology Officer of the Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF).

From Jan 2004 till Dec 2008 , he was the Deputy Secretary (Technology and Transformation) of MINDEF. Before that , he was the Chief Executive Officer of the DSO National Laboratories from Jan 1998 to Dec 2003 and Director of the Defence Materiel Organisation from Jun 1994 to Dec 1997.

He also serves on several boards. Currently he is Chairman of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and sits on the Boards of the DSO National Laboratories(DSO), the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), and the Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd.

In the higher education sector, he chairs the Temasek Laboratories at NUS(National University of Singapore), the Temasek Laboratories at NTU(Nanyang Technological University), and the Temasek Defence Systems Institute(TDSI) at NUS. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Singapore University of Technology and Design(SUTD), the Tropical Marine Science Institute(TMSI) Management Board at NUS, the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) Management Board, the Scientific Advisory Board(SAB) of the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology Centre (SMART), and the SAB of the Institute for Mathematical Sciences(IMS).

He is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering of the NUS. His professional interests include defence technology and management of technology.


About Dr Albert Causo:

Dr Albert Causo is the Founder of Hand Plus Robotics, a company which specialises in robotics software for the Manufacturing and Logistics Industries.


About Goh Chew Lam:

Mr Goh Chew Lam specializes in building industrial and deep tech startups. He mentors B2B startups in various sectors and consults on M&As in manufacturing and automation. An experienced entrepreneur, he successfully founded and exited an engineering company, bringing extensive industry knowledge.


About Prof Mohan:

Dr. Mohan is currently a Provost’s Chair Professor and Associate Professor with the Engineering Product Development Pillar at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). His research interests are in robotics with an emphasis on self-reconfigurable platforms and research problems related to robot ergonomics and autonomous systems. His team at SUTD has attained global leadership in terms of research in this area. He has published more than 200 papers in leading journals, books and conferences. He is the recipient of A’ Design Award, IDA Design Award, SG Mark Design Award, ASEE Best of Design in Engineering Award, and Tan Kah Kee Young Inventors’ Award.

He is the co-founder of Lionsbot, a robotics company that develops and deploys a wide range of autonomous cleaning robots. He is also a visiting faculty member of the International Design Institute at Zhejiang University, China.


About Tung Meng Fai:
Mr Tung Meng Fai is Deputy Chief Executive of the National Robotics Programme. He and his team work closely with international and local end-user companies across a range of industries, robotics solution & technology providers, and local institutions to facilitate partnerships and translate public R&D in robotics to market, to create economic and social impact.

Prior to his current appointment, Meng Fai was a Director at Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and held various positions in industry development across sectors such as precision engineering, electronics, marine & offshore and infocomms & media at EDB where he started his career in 2003.

He was also posted overseas as Centre Director in EDB’s Texas office. Meng Fai graduated with a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and holds an MBA from INSEAD.


About Andy Wee -

With a strong engineering background, having spent 13 years in Hewlett Packard in Product Design R&D, Andy has a keen interest in making technology work to create better life for everyone.
In 2014, Andy took time off to pursue a Masters in Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation at NTU's Nanyang Technopreneurship Centre, achieving a Director's List award for outstanding performance.
Andy’s interest in technology spans from deeptech, web and mobile app, personal mobility devices, online and offline data storage backup solutions, medical health supplements, natural fertility and beyond.
