Science communicator, astrostatistician and author Roberto Trotta will return to Imperial College London to deliver the CLCC's annual lecture Lecture 2022.

The Charmian Brinson Honorary lecture, named for the influential former Director of the Humanities Programme, features a distinguished speaker who has overcome the narrow boundaries of their discipline in an inspirational way.

Professor Trotta will speak on "the need for humanities in an AI-dominated future".


Speaker Bio - Professor Roberto Trotta

Roberto Trotta is Professor of Astrostatistics at Imperial College London, where he's also an Academic Fellow of the Data Science Institute. Currently on leave of absence to the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, he heads a research group in Theoretical and Scientific Data Science at.

Roberto works at the crossroads between cosmology, machine learning and statistics, focusing on developing and applying new Bayesian and machine learning methods to large and complex data sets from cosmology and astrophysics. An award-winning author and science communicator, he is the recipient of the Annie Maunder Medal 2020 of the Royal Astronomical Society for his public engagement work. www.robertotrotta.com @R_Trotta
