ROBERT WIENS "Burn"We invite you to join us next Saturday for an artist talk with Robert Wiens about his current exhibition "Burn".
Since 1996 Robert Wiens has been concerned primarily with environmental issues - native trees being the principal subject of his work.
He is perhaps best known for his large-scale "White Pine" watercolours. The works include detailed portraits of old-growth pines in the Temagami region, and deciduous trees found in the locality around his home base of Picton, ON.
Wiens uses his own photographic documentation as a reference to the colour and scale of his subjects. Wiens’ tree portraits also function as memorials to, or totemic representations of, our Canadian forests.
For the exhibition "Burn", Wiens provided a text which begins as follows:
"My original intention was to produce a diverse body of work. Each piece would stand completely on its own without reference to anything beside it." -- Robert Wiens, August 2025.
