Robert Benton’s STILL OF THE NIGHT

After winning the Academy Award for 1979’s “Kramer vs Kramer”, Director Robert Benton reteamed with his “Kramer” leading lady, Meryl Streep, for this twisty thriller in the Hitchcock vein, with Streep playing the part of the “Hitchcock Blonde”. When one of his patients is found murdered, psychiatrist Dr. Sam Rice (Roy Scheider) is visited by the police but refuses to give up any information. He's then visited by the patient's mistress, Brooke Reynolds (Streep), whom he quickly falls for despite her being a likely murder suspect. As the police pressure on him intensifies, Rice decides to attempt solving the case on his own and soon discovers that someone is trying to K*ll him as well.
