Join Appalachian Voices staff on a volunteer work day in Roanoke. Mill Mountain Park is a regional gem for outdoor recreation, home to the Mill Mountain Star and the incredibly rare Dixie Cavern Salamander. We’re hosting a volunteer work day to remove invasive species from the park. The work will start at 5 p.m., but feel free to stop by anytime and lend a hand in helping create a healthy environment for the native flora and fauna of the region.Find us at the Big Ol'Bikes sculpture in the park to start the work day and bring gloves, closed-toe shoes and appropriate clothing.
Also on the following weekend, Oct. 17-19, visit our table at the GO Fest in Elmwood Park to find out how you can help bring clean energy, strong communities and a healthy environment to the region.
