Clifford events in conjunction with the Honey Bee Blues Club presents - Roaming Son / Black Thunder Revue – A Tribute to Martin Bedford
Join us as two sadly missed Sheffield bands rise from the ashes for a special ‘one night only’ event as a thank you to poster legend / promoter and Honey Bee Blues Club head honcho Martin F Bedford .
Our mutual good friend Martin Sadly passed away in October 2023 after a tough battle with Cancer.
As many of you will know Martin was a champion of the Sheffield music scene bringing local, national, and international talent to the stages. Add the fantastic artistic talent of designing distinctive recognisable Poster art for every show, Martin’s branches reached far further than Sheffield.
His loss still leaves a big hole in the music and arts scene today.
Both Roaming Son and The Black Thunder Revue became firm favourites on the bringing their respective takes on blues and rock ’n’ roll to venues in Sheffield and beyond, and after playing the iconic Leadmill together in 2014 they forged a strong brotherly bond and continued to play together supporting each other right until Roaming Son’s final gig in 2017 and Black Thunder Revues in 2019
Both bands were helped immensely by Martin, from poster art, booking gigs and invaluable advice and friendship.
It is only fitting that they come together once again for this show as a thank you and to raise tribute for everything Martin did for them along the way.
The Black Thunder Revue – A four piece band whose songs and style are inspired by the Mississippi sound of the blues from the Delta and the Hill Country and the dirty rock ‘n’ roll sound of the Black Keys and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Rock ‘n’ Roll tunes of the 50s.
Dirty, Bluesy, Rock ‘n’ Roll
Roaming Son hail from Sheffield,
They draw influences from the sounds of the earliest raucous rock 'n' roll bands of the 50's, but adding a distinct sound that is refreshingly modern.
Expect jungle drums, dirty twangy slapback guitars, greasy bass and vocals that range from heartfelt to lowdown and earthy
Tickets are priced £13.50 + fees
All proceeds from this show will be split between The Sarah Nulty Power of Music Foundation and Weston Park Cancer Charity.
