About this Event
College admissions is a holistic journey. We'll help you plan ahead!
High school students apply to college during the fall of senior year, but the foundation of admissions success starts much earlier. The classes you take during 9th, 10th and 11th grade, and the grades you earn, will determine the overall arc of your high school academic career. Your high school track record, in turn, will determine your admissibility to your desired colleges and programs. In addition, colleges are more interested than ever in the depth and breadth of students' extracurricular activites and community involvement. How do you pursue your passions and establish yourself as a leader in your areas of interest? And, what does "college" even mean for you? With over 4000 colleges to choose from in the US, and the most competitive admissions landscape we've ever seen, how do you find the best fit for you and make yourself stand out from the crowd?
We're excited to welcome college admissions guru Diane Campbell to answer these questions and more.
This small-group workshop is designed for rising 9th, 10th and 11th graders and will dive deep into essential college planning strategy:
- Understand types of colleges and your potential best fits
- Begin your college list
- Map the arc of your high school courses
- Explore potential majors and careers
- Create your college portfolio
- Start building your activities resume for college admission and scholarships
Diane Campbell owns and operates Campbell College Consulting and is a principal at Educational Futures, a top-tier international admissions consultancy. She has long served as Director of College Admissions at one of Colorado's top-ranked chater schools. In the last few years, Diane’s students have been admitted to Yale, Princeton, Tulane, Penn, USC, MIT, Northeastern, NYU, Notre Dame, CalTech, Colorado College, Duke, and many more amazing schools.
Diane recently became the first high school counselor to ever receive the Cynthia Gales award, a recognition of outstanding service in the field of college admissions awarded by the Colorado Council on High School/College Relations. In 2017 she was named CTCL (Colleges That Changes Lives) Counselor of the Year. She currently serves on the Counselor Advisory Committee for the College Board and has been featured in Jeff Selingo’s national best-seller, Who Gets In and Why, and many articles in Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Our goal for this workshop is to help students see the college admissions process as the natural extension of their high school journey. With some forethought and planning, college-bound students can understand the full path in front of them and take some of the stress out of a successful college admissions journey.
