Escape the city and spend a day in nature with the DC Bird Alliance and Prince George’s County Parks & Recreation as we take a special road trip to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on Maryland’s Eastern Shore—one of the most spectacular birding destinations on the Atlantic Flyway.
Join us for a guided wildlife experience designed for bird lovers, nature enthusiasts, photographers, and anyone seeking a peaceful day outdoors. Winter at Blackwater brings breathtaking flocks of waterfowl, soaring raptors, wintering songbirds, and unforgettable marsh landscapes.
What to Expect
- Roundtrip transportation provided by PG Parks. Carpool options to meetup location -- TBD Metro/MARC Park & Ride (will be either Bowie or New Carrollton)
- Experienced bird guides leading the walk
- A relaxing, refreshing escape into one of Maryland’s most important conservation areas
What to Bring
- Binoculars (a few loaners available)
- Camera (optional)
- Weather-appropriate clothing (it's colder by the water!)
- Refillable water bottle
- Snacks or a packed lunch
- Comfortable walking shoes
