In the pantheon of so-bad-it’s-actually-good movies, few can compete with the original Road House. Made in the prime of Patrick Swayze’s star career, it’s one of the most charmingly ridiculous action films ever made.
The Double Deuce is the meanest, loudest and rowdiest bar south of the Mason-Dixon Line, and Dalton (Patrick Swayze) has been hired to clean it up. He might not look like much, but the Ph.D educated bouncer proves he's more than capable -- busting the heads of troublemakers and turning the roadhouse into a jumping hot-spot.
There are a lot of rowdy bar fights and a late-film sequence where Sam Elliot shows up and he and Swayze drink, dance, fight, and talk shit for what appears to be about 72 hours straight without sleeping. Also, there's a scene where Swayze kills a local thug by literally ripping his throat out.
A Zeppo Arts presentation. Screening as part of Art of Action, a UK-wide film season supported by National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network.
