About this Event
Atrium at Sumner is the new construction of 190 Senior apartments through NYCHA and HPD's NextGeneration Seniors First Program. The RFP was awarded to Sumner Senior Partners a joint venture between Riseboro Community Partners, Selfhelp Realty Group and Urban Builders Collaborative.
Built by Lettire Construction and designed with Passive House principles by international renowned architecture firm Studio Libeskind, the project contains an atrium through the interior of the building creating a landmark design. The Atrium allows sunlight to pour into the green landscaped 2nd Floor as well as providing direct light to all residential hallways.
The Project received NYCHA Project Based Sec. 8 vouchers along with NYC HDC tax exempt bonds, 4% Tax Credits, NYC HPD SARA Capital, and Resolution A Funds from the former Brooklyn Borough President.
The project is located in the NYCHA Sumner Houses Development on underutilized land at 57 Marcus Garvey Blvd. between Park and Myrtle.
As part of the Project, NYCHA's open green space was upgraded with Landscapping and resilience, including bio swales, to provide protection from extreme storms.
