Register today to volunteer with the Rising Leaders Network as part of Services for the Underserved, Inc's (S:US) Holiday Gift Project! On Thursday, November 21st from 5:30-7 PM, volunteers with help organize and wrap hundreds of gifts for S:US participants.
The holidays can be a difficult time as many of those served at S:US do not have families to celebrate with or the means to provide a gift for their child. The Holiday Gift Project was started in 2000 after an idea blossomed for New Yorkers to donate personalized stockings to their participants, spreading joy over the holiday season. As the project has grown over the years, going from 200 to over 1,100 gift recipients, the gifts have grown as well and are no longer able to fit into a stocking. The gifts are still individualized wishes.
Gift recipients include children and adults with an intellectual/developmental disability; children in their family and domestic violence shelters and in supported housing programs; seniors with a disability; or veterans needing assistance.
