About this Event
Rangatahi Advocacy Training for 2025
Te Whatu Ora, the Cancer Society and the Regional Kai Network Advocacy Group are offering rangatahi an opportunity to attend advocacy training this year. Feedback from advocacy workshops held in schools last year was that their understanding and confidence in advocacy significantly improved and they enjoyed the opportunity to network with other colleges.
Why are we offering this?
Our aim is to enable students to use their voice for change in an area of health, democracy, human rights or civics that they are passionate about. We will provide resources, inspiring speakers and workshop time.
When and where?
We believe a mini conference would be the ideal avenue for building capacity in our youth this year. We are planning to host this in term two Tuesday 6th May.
We will hold this event at Te Rauparaha Arena, Porirua so the students can join together as a region to learn about using their voice for change.
Which students?
Nau Mai, Haere Mai, we welcome any student who is interested in developing their confidence, public speaking and advocacy skills.
The ideal student might include be those who have missed out on the usual leadership opportunities. It might include those in the senior school who are confident using their voice but need structure and guidance on doing that most effectively.
We hope this sounds like an exciting opportunity to you and look forward to working with you to offer this opportunity to your students. We also welcome feedback and ideas, so please do not hesitate to share with those with us.
Mā mua ka kite a muri, mā muri ka ora a mua
