On Saturday 19th April, we will be hosting our second town tour of the season, ‘River, Road, Railway.’This tour takes a route along a stretch of riverbank via Navigation Wharf, now a forgotten backwater, telling the story of Malton’s 18th and 19th century transport and trade, and life before the motor car. This area of town was once an extremely important area bustling with life, and the station was once a noisy place with an imposing railway goods handling building, an outsized cattle dock, and extensive coal sidings that served a wide area. Come and learn about how and where it all happened! (We recommend wearing sensible footwear and bringing a raincoat.)
This tour commences at Malton Museum at 11 am and will be approximately 1.5 hours long.
