About this Event

Join us for the second of our 'River Draw' events, this time being guided by local live sketch artist Lydia Thornley, in celebration of the launch of 'London Nature Trails', four new green walking routes through Brent, Camden, Lewisham and Newham.

Lydia will join members of Surge Co-operative, to lead a collective drawing session and litter-pick, gathering on the river in a multi-sensory way; to record and restore.

Drop in to the garden for a morning of slowing down to connect, taking care and observing our environment, experiencing how our time in place can be a way of evolving and enriching our collective selves.

We will gather on the banks of the Channelsea river at the Long Wall Ecology Garden, guided by Lydia to take notice of the small things and the river views, and finding our way into the ecologies and histories of the area through closer looking and mark making.

We will also take some time to collect litter on the site, gathering detritus and good feelings from restoring a sense of balance to this place so many species call home.

What to bring:

• A mug - we will provide the tea

• Lunch if you will get hungry - we will provide snacks

• Your own drawing materials if you have them - we will provide some

DROP IN from 11 - 1pm

Access:

Knowing access to blue/green space is vital for well-being, Surge endeavor to make our events and community actions as accessible as possible and improving accessibility is built into our long-term goals for the area. Currently, there are wheelchair accessible paths around the Long Wall Path site, and we invite people to communicate any access needs they may have. We can provide information in other formats and audio/visual journeys in advance, if requested.

Please note, there are currently no public toilet facilities in the vicinity.

If you’d like to discuss your access further needs please contact: [email protected]

This event continues our 'River Walk • River Talk' series, gathering on the river in a multi-sensory way; to listen, inquire and restore. It also connects to our work creating the 'Long Wall Ecology garden' on the banks of the river, where we will be planting an orchard (with Grow Back Greener funding) and installing an accessible compost toilet this year, amongst other creative engagement activities.

By signing up to this event you will be added to the Surge Cooperative mailing list for occasional email updates about events such as these.
