Join us for a presentation about migration and identity with dann j. Broyld
dann j. Broyld, Associate Professor in African American History at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, will focus on research from his book Borderland Blacks: Two Cities in the Niagara Region during the Final Decades of Slavery (2022, LSU press). dann completed his doctoral work in Nineteenth Century United States and African Diaspora History at Howard University; his research focuses on transnational migration and identity in the American Canadian borderlands. His talk celebrates the paperback release of the book in February 2025.
dann will be on Zoom for the lecture. He joined by Rochester resident, Shane Weigand from Our Local History, a non-profit that seeks to support and empower students, teachers, and communities with the tools to engage with and own their local history of civil rights through inquiry, equity, and civic action.
