Risk Transfer -How to Reduce Risk of Exposure to Litigation

For many years, due to his work as an insurance defense attorney, Tom has been asked to get involved in countless matters involving coverage determinations/opinions relevant to the small business/contractor population. Because the problem is not resolved, and so many people have no idea of the scope of the problem he works to bring to the attention of our community the concept of communication with our insurance agents and how to reduce risk exposure.

In this presentation we shall discuss good methods of handling or obtaining the correct types of insurances to respond to contract (between a General Contractor and a sub, as an example) requirements for such issues as indemnity, additional insureds, ongoing operations, completed operations, and how to make sure that you are insured for the correct types of work being considered. (class codes).

We also intend to show the small businessman (owners for coffee shops, for example) how to do the same…side stepping, if needed, the limitations of a designated premises limitation, the limitations of coverage to others under the policy.
