Welcome to Risk A Verse, the night which brings feelgood communal tunery to the fine folk of Leeds! The concept is this: you sign up for a slot in advance to play and/or sing a song of your choice on the theme, then on the night you sing the verses and everyone else joins in on the chorus. This time, we're looking forward to an evening of totally top tunes, as the theme is songs which reached the No.1 slot in the charts.
Normally this is where we'd tell you how to sign up to perform on the night.....however, all the slots were filled within about 24 hours of the last event on 16 November, and that's even with us deciding to push the number of songs to a whopping 20!
Please note that this means we'll need to start the music a bit earlier than usual, at 7.45pm, with doors at 7.15pm.
If performing, please let us know if you'd like to enlist the services of House Guitarist Mike to accompany you - or you're welcome to use a backing track if not accompanying yourself.
On the night, we will project the lyrics onto the wall, so if your version differs from the version on https://genius.com then please let us know at least a few days before the event.
If playing the song yourself, you must bring your own instrument. There is an in-house PA and sound engineer. Percussion (played by you or a friend) is optional, though we don't want to faff around with any drum kits.
If you are concerned about sharing a mic and can bring your own, you are welcome to use it.
