In recognition of the 2025 theme for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence — “End digital violence against all women and girls” — Skye Alexandra House invites you to an afternoon of learning, connection, and collaboration focused on supporting girls and young women at risk of sexual exploitation and violence.
What to Expect
• Screening of Repost, our short film exploring the sexual and criminal exploitation of young girls in London, and the impact of recordings of sexual violence being shared online.
Speakers
Jade LB
Jade is a writer, academic, and cultural commentator whose work explores Black British life, identity, and decoloniality. She is the author of Keisha the Sket—a viral cultural classic published by #Merky Books and winner of the 2022 BritishBook Awards Discover Book of the Year—and the creator and executive producer of Amazon’s +44 Presents The Noughties podcast. As a Senior Academic Mentor and study skills tutor at London Metropolitan University, Jade is passionate about developing students’ academic and psychosocial competencies through teaching, mentoring, and collaborative engagement. She is currently completing her Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.
Jay Mortly
Jay the Creator (Jay Morally is an artist writer and poet with roots in South London. His journey has been shaped by both personal experiences and a burning desire to effect positive change within our community. Growing up in a single-parent household, he witnessed first-hand the struggles faced by many. Poverty, mental illness, domestic abuse, and violent crime etched themselves into his consciousness. These early encounters ignited a fire within him and a commitment to be an agent of transformation. Currently, he serves within mental health services, dismantling stigma brick by brick. Guided by empathy, his expertise through his education and experience, he empowers individuals to reintegrate into their communities, fostering lives of purpose and fulfilment. Jay has over 18 years of experience in the field of Mental Health. He has spent the last 8 years in managerial roles in the mental health system, where he has honed his skills in leadership, communication, group facilitation and problem-solving. His experience includes working with young people in the probationary system, where he provided support and guidance to help them overcome their challenges. He is passionate about mental health and has attended comprehensive training in New York based on a mental health recovery model. This training has given him the diversified tools and knowledge to help individuals recover from mental health challenges and lead fulfilling lives. Jay is committed to making a positive impact in the world and believes that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. As a Community Creative Facilitator, he helps local communities plan and take part in activities like drama, dance, painting, and photography. He works in a variety of settings, including charities, education, and the community. He uses his skills to promote mental health and community change and supports individuals and groups express themselves through the creative arts and work to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. His creative expression is a mirror reflecting life’s complexities. Through art, writing, and poetry, he explores the human condition, the triumphs, the fractures, and the unspoken truths. His canvas becomes a stage for philosophies and ideas, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and engage. He believes that art is a catalyst for dialogue. Regular exhibitions, therapeutic groups and workshops serve as platforms where he confronts societal challenges head-on. Themes emerge such as; Mental Health, Generational Trauma, Domestic Abuse, Bullying, Crime, Diversity and Inclusion, each demanding a voice. He believes that together, we dismantle barriers, one brushstroke at a time.
