Rise of the Swamp Rats is coming to the Manship Theatre on April 27.Deep in the marshes of Louisiana, roots are being pulled from the ground and land is falling away. Who's the culprit? Heavy-set semi-aquatic rodent that brought here a hundred years ago: Nutria Rats.
Native to South America, the webbed footed, five-fingered pest have been wreaking havoc and populating fast. Now, there are so many of them Louisiana's agencies are making efforts to keep their population down. They've tried everything from Nutria consumption to mass killing efforts. Nothing has fully worked as intended.
