The Rimfire Challenge is a monthly event we’ve had for the last 12-15 years, November to May. Rimfire Challenge is held on the last Saturday of every month and starts at 9am.• The fee is simply the standard range fee of $12.60 (after tax). Guests are allowed to shoot the rimfire challenge AND use the pistol and rifle ranges for the one standard fee of $12.60.
• Registered guests of the shooting range are able and encouraged to bring their .22 caliber pistols and/or .22 caliber rifles (no other calibers allowed) to the action pistol field at 9am on the day.
• Guests will be given a score sheet. They will then proceed to the “shooter’s box” when it is their turn. Shooting begins on the command of the time keeper. At the sound of the buzzer, guests will engage five (5) steel targets with their pistols/rifles. Four (4) white targets first then ending on one (1) orange “stop” target.
• The time it takes from buzzer for them to shoot all the white targets and then the final orange target will be recorded on their score sheet. They will have four (4) phases. The times for each phase will be added together to give them their “average” time. This is their final score.
• It is a competitive atmosphere but, it is open to ALL levels of shooting enthusiast. It can be for fun, personal improvement or to prepare for competition(s).
• .22 pistols go first. Then the “shooter’s boxes” are moved back and the .22 caliber rifle section begins.
• A sign up sheet will be available at the main office at Indian River County Shooting Range and guests interested or intending to shoot this event are encouraged to add their names to the sign up sheet when possible.
All guests and visitors must be registered and complete and sign the online safety waiver. Go to http://www.indianriver.gov/.../shooting_range/index.php and click “Register Now”
