On Saturday, July 10, 2021 Grace House will host Ride with Grace -- a 125-mile motorcycle safety and awareness cruise. Ride with Grace isn't a race. It's a journey. One so many of our guests have had to take to seek life-saving healthcare. For the past 3 years, Grace House has provided comfort and care to more than 600 families who are in the midst of a medical crisis. Whether traumatic injuries or burns sustained in an accident, a devastating diagnosis and hope for a cure, surgeries or sudden events, many families must travel far from their own homes to receive urgent or specialized medical care right here in Buffalo, NY. These families embark on an arduous medical journey.
The journey to create Grace House began in 2013 because of a motorcycle crash. A local WNY family got the call that their son, Gunnery SGT David Celej USMC, retired, was in grave condition after being in a motorcycle crash in Asheville, NC. The driver who turned his truck into David’s path never even saw him. The family rushed to be by David’s bedside. Nothing could prepare them for that medical journey – or the loving kindness of strangers that waited for them at a guest house close to their son’s trauma hospital. There they were cared for: sheltered, fed, and transported to the hospital every day, allowing them to focus on what was important day by day.
The family’s journey was shared with Grace’s founder and inspired her to create something similar here in our community, now known as Grace House.
David Celej survived his motorcycle crash, but it’s not so for too many others. That is why Grace House is hosting the first Ride with Grace motorcycle safety and awareness cruise.
Ride with Grace will focus on safety and raise awareness as well as ongoing support for Grace House’s families who are journeying through a medical crisis. Riders will embark on a 125-mile cruise weaving through the Counties of Erie, Chautauqua and Cattaraugus. They will start at Buffalo Harley-Davidson in Orchard Park with a Blessing of the Bikes, stop at Emerling Ford in Springville, continue to Jamestown Harley-Davidson and then Gowanda Harley-Davidson, and finish at the Erie County Fairgrounds.
When you purchase a ticket, you’re directly supporting those families in need. Hop on your bike, enjoy the open road, and celebrate with us after a long, hard year. And while you’re out there with the sun on your face, remember that you made a difference. To participate, or learn how you can support us, please visit graceguesthouse.org
All proceeds support Grace's programs to provide a home away from home when our guests travel to Buffalo for critical medical care. Your purchase helps Grace provide nutritious food, private transportation, and clean, comfortable lodging to patients and caregivers in need.
