After an astonishing 60-year career—including pivotal roles in Buffalo Springfield, Poco, Souther-Hillman-Furay Band, and solo work—Richie Furay’s voice remains as moving and magnetic as ever. Nearing 80, his stage presence is a rare blend of vitality and reflection, resonating deeply with longtime fans and new listeners alike.
Raised in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Furay grew up listening to country music on the radio, drawn to its emotional directness. After picking up a guitar at age eight and winning his college talent show as a drama major, he headed to New York folk clubs, where a fateful meeting with Stephen Stills led to the AuGoGo Singers—and launched his career. Once Furay and Stills joined Neil Young in Buffalo Springfield, a historic chapter of American rock began. His formation of Poco in 1968 helped define Country Rock, blending steel guitar with heartfelt songwriting.
“Rock & roll and country—that’s what I’m all about,” Furay affirms. His catalog reflects a passion that never wavered. Today, when acoustic and electric guitars mingle with a driving rhythm section and soaring steel, Furay delivers more than music—he channels life itself. And when his signature song, Poco’s “A Good Feelin’ To Know,” closes the night, it feels like a deeply personal gift from one of rock’s most enduring voices.
