Many Press Club members may recall Kolko’s last appearance as a Newsmaker when he was newly retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and had just joined the WINK News team. His seamless transition from federal service to journalism brought instant credibility to the newsroom. WINK News recognized his unique expertise, but soon his skills were again in high demand. After only a short time at WINK, the FBI and Department of Justice tapped him for high-level projects. What began as a brief leave quickly expanded into over a year of behind-the-scenes work on some of the nation’s most significant law enforcement investigations.

Now back in Southwest Florida, Kolko has rejoined WINK News, where he serves as the station’s trusted Safety & Security Expert, offering insight into terrorism, public safety, and national security issues. His extraordinary career spans a remarkable range of experiences, making him what many call a true “Renaissance man.”

A Multifaceted Career

U.S. Navy Service – Naval aviator and Naval Intelligence officer.
FBI Career – More than 20 years as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent, including involvement in the 9/11 investigations and other global security operations.
Olympics – Served as a coach in luge and bobsled for three Winter Olympic Games, and later worked in security operations for four other Olympic Games.
Education – Bachelor’s in Communications from the University of Miami; Master’s in Homeland Security from American Military University.
Media Expertise – National media analyst and now WINK News’ Safety & Security Expert, providing trusted public commentary on law enforcement and security issues.

Kolko’s wide-ranging background, from military aviation to Olympic coaching to FBI counterterrorism, gives him a unique perspective on today’s pressing safety and security challenges. He is open to speaking about the January 6 investigations, the October 7th Hamas attack (the day of this luncheon is the anniversary), what's happening within the FBI, and the quality or lack of content on local news.
