About this Event
About the Roundtable
Following on from our great Ethics & Sustainability Roundtable we continue the conversation by taking on the current hot topic of AI within the profession.
AI is shaping the world around us whether we like it or not. It is a rapidly changing component of the world and we cannot avoid interaction with it . As a profession architects need to evaluate & interrogate the implications that it brings to our industry relative to the values, sensibilities, and standards that the architecture profession has historically upheld.
Can we use AI as a useful tool without losing intellectual rigour, quality & values that we uphold as part of our professional ethical obligations? Is AI an ethical use of technology considering its background? What are the ethical implications for the industry's job and retaining architects position in the industry? Where does the liability lie when using AI?
At this event we will discuss these questions and more as we try to navigate this emerging new landscape? We hope that this will be an engaging and lively discussion that allows us to explore this increasingly complex topic that is an essential part of modern practice.
Ethical practice is a mandatory RIBA competence and this event falls within the RIBA CPD core curriculum topic: Architecture for social purpose.
This is the second event from our Ethics Roundtable series, with the first one in October which considered the ethical issues surrounding Sustainability. Following the conclusion of both of the events we will be publishing a summary of the issues raised to allow the conversation to continue.
