About this Event
On Thursday 25th July 6-8pm a group of local cycling architects (its not a circus) will be riding around Winchester via some of the city's notable homes by mostly local notable architects. Please join us.
The tour is not extensive but has been kindly mapped out by Keith Evans of Hampshire County Council Architects. RIBA Hampshire are looking to make this a regular event (once or twice a year in the summer months). This cycle tour will start and finish at The Willow Tree Pub in Winchester.
Starting at 6pm the tour will leave the pub in groups of no more than 12 members (for cycle safety) and we will visit approximately 12 notable projects and pass numerous others around the city. We will stop at some (not all) of the projects speaking to the residents and / or the project architects to hear the tales behind the scheme.
It is approximately a 20km cycle (for detailed route map click here) which, with numerous stops, may take several hours. It is a leisurely cycle at your own pace within the group (but there are some hills). I will be cycling on a 3-speed fold-up bike in the hope that this makes it seem more accessible to all.
We hope to subsidise pizzas at the Willow Tree pub at the end of the ride and as such are asking for a fee of £5 so that we can pre-order some food for our arrival back at The Willow Tree just after 8pm.
We really hope you will join us for what will be a most enjoyable evening of sociable cycling.
