About this Event
Back by popular demand! This course teaches regional anaesthetic techniques for patients with rib fractures; serratus plane and erector spinae plane blocks. The course will feature discussion on the anatomy and indications for blocks, scanning on volunteer models, familiarisation with needle and catheter sets plus scanning and injecting on cadavers.
The course aims to spread the knowledge and skills to deliver these techniques to our patients on a more regular and sustainable basis, so interested trainees and consultants are welcome.
Existing experience in ultrasound needling is essential as this will not be covered on this course. The Aberdeen Basic Regional Anaesthesia Course is appropriate for learning this.
To maximise the scanning time on the day, there is likely to be some light pre-course reading.
The faculty for the course are consultant anaesthetists in NHS Grampian with practical experience of both regional anaesthesia and the techniques being shown.
Places limited to 12.
