About this Event
Nigerian Born Baltimore-based Transdisciplinary Artist, presents RHYTHMS AND RECONNECTION in ÀṢẸ: Embodying the Divine - a solo presentation of paintings, sculptures, and site-specific installations inspired by the Yorùbá philosophy of ÀṢẸ, using the polychronic concept of energy and vital life force as a cosmic declaration to embody the divine energies that catalyze our existence. Through this solo exhibition, VILLAGER invites the viewer to embark on a cosmic journey of searching, finding, and embodying - instructing us to explore our inner and outer worlds and re-imagine ourselves as sacred beings, ordained with the power (ÀṢẸ ) to manifest (pà àse) and redefine our existential conditions.
RHYTHMS AND RECONNECTION is designed as a 2-hour primer for introducing sound as a vehicle to expand one’s capacity for one's artistic expression. VILLAGER [lead artist] will lead the workshop participants into an energetically rhythmic and harmonious environment to find stillness and connect with the present through the senses. Using an assortment of rhythm and percussion instruments - singing bowls, gongs, sound bowls, cowbells, and djembe accompanied by vocal affirmations, VILLAGER will create soundscapes that encourage participants to rediscover themselves through intuitive creative expression.
Participants will be provided with materials all materials provided. No experience is necessary. VILLAGER will guide you through a journey of connecting with your soul’s wisdom and intuitively paint from this meditative space. Participants will leave with a piece of artwork that reflects their experience and serves as a testament to their innate creativity and connection to their spirit self.
