Re-connect through facilitated rhythm and healing songs with the founders of Liverpool Art Center Drum Circle; the longest running drum circle in CNY!!
-Mindfulness and rhythm combine to offer relaxing musical experiences for anyone (absolutely no skills required).
-Designed for adults seeking creative outlets, self-care practices and a sense of belonging.
This facilitated rhythm event is modeled after what's known as a drum circle. People gather and connect with the focus being around making music with percussion instruments, song and sometimes we even dance! The goal is not so much about making songs like we hear on the radio....the purpose of this event is to gather with like-minded people for the purpose of healing, deepening connection with ourselves, others and the rhythm of the world around us.
Important details about this monthly event:
-Drum use is included with your payment.
-Parking is free, plentiful and anywhere around the building.
-Limited handicap parking available (please make prior arrangements)
-This is an indoor event.
-NO ALCOHOL OR SUBSTANCE USE PRIOR OR DURING THE EVENT.
*** Our organization supports persons in recovery and families impacted by the opioid crisis and for this reason we are strict about this policy.
Q & A
Q: Do I have to know how to drum? What if I have terrible rhythm?
A: No skill required!... Everyone is generally amazed at the way the rhythm comes together even though we are all simply listening and playing what feels good....there's just a magical something to the way this happens!
Q: Do I need to bring anything? Do I need my own drum?
A: Drums are provided and included in your payment for this event. No need to bring anything. We even provide chairs!
Q: Can I bring my own instruments?
A: If you have hand drums, yes, please feel free to bring your own and some to share?
(Important Note: please..no kit drums or louder percussions...the space can be very "echoy" and cause drummers some discomfort with certain sounds other than hand drums like djembes)
Q: Is food and drink permitted?
A: Non alcoholic beverages are permitted. (NOTE!... This location has a self-serve cafe & snack space for donations that support our teen art programs!)
How is the accessibility?
This location offers:
-Street parking anywhere around the building.
-Handicap accessible parking at the door.
-Entrance with no stairs or challenges for wheel chairs.
