About this Event
What to expect
Babies and children who discover the pleasure of hearing stories and rhymes have a flying start when it comes to learning to read by themselves. Our Rhymetime sessions involve a mix of songs, rhymes, rhythm and movement. Rhymetime is a friendly, inclusive space for parents and carers to meet up and make new friends.
You’ll arrive and snuggle up together on one of our colourful mats . We’ll enjoy a packed 30 minutes with a mix of songs, rhymes, rhythm and movement, led by our library volunteer and staff team.
Don't worry about your child becoming unsettled during the session. Staff and volunteers are very experienced . Children can get up and movement to music is encouraged. If your child gets upset you are free to leave and re-join the activity when your child is ready.
The session will be around half an hour. We run 2 sessions back to back in term time, so if you are in the first session you'll be asked to leave the children's area at the end. We'll have some book boxes around the library so you'll still have some time to browse, though.
Who can come
Space is limited, so please book a ticket for your family. As we have a limited number of spaces, do let us know if your plans change and you can’t make it. If you've booked on Eventbrite it is easy to cancel, freeing up the space for someone else.
Safety
Please keep our community safe by sanitising your own and your child's hands on entry, and make space for each other. If you or your child are unwell, in line with public safety guidelines, please stay at home.
Borrowing books
You will have an opportunity to borrow books, so do bring your library card. If you’d like to join the library, bring ID with your address on it. Children don't need ID to join.
