Ensemble for These Times (E4TT) will begin the new year the right way with the group’s second annual celebration of women composers--which sold out in 2020! Reprising two works from E4TT's COVID-shortened spring season: “Matrix” (2020) by Bay Area composer Elinor Armer, to poems by Ursula Le Guin and Rella Lossy, and "Rest These Hands" by Anna Clyne. Plus music by Cuban-American Tania León, Metropolitan Opera / Lincoln Center Theater New Works composer Jesse Montomgery, Latin Grammy winner Claudia Montero, 2020 Guggenheim Fellow Marti Epstein, 2013 Pulitzer Prize Fellow Caroline Shaw, three-time Grammy winning LGBTQ composer Jennifer Higdon, Opera America Discovery composer Missy Mazzoli, Canadian Guggenheim Fellow Vivian Fung, and innovative 20th century Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz.
Musicians: E4TT Nanette McGuinness, soprano; Anne Lerner, cello; and season guest pianist Margaret Halbig and guest violinist Ilana Blumberg.
7:00 p.m. Virtual pre-concert composer talk with composer Elinor Armer, plus an intro video from Jesse Montgomery.
*The concert will be available at no cost via livestream on C4NM’s YouTube and Facebook channels. Donations of whatever feels comfortable are welcomed. www.centerfornewmusic.com
