Not just a pretty continuo instrument - the cello can be so much more! Cello soloist Elinor Frey joins us for a spectacular journey through cello music of the "galant" era. Elegant and fierce, fiery and poised, the rarely-performed galant music is a perfect showcase for this versatile instrument. The performance includes C.P.E. Bach's cello concerto in B-flat, a Boccherini cello quintet, a Dall'Abaco cello duo, and Elinor will play a "realised" continuo part to accompany a violin sonata - something few cellists are brave enough to attempt, but was a fairly common practice at one time!
Rezonance Baroque Ensemble is one of the most exciting groups on Toronto’s classical music scene. Inspired by history and informed by the present, Rezonance leads audiences through the discovery of under-appreciated and unusual works, and new ways of hearing the classics, in a manner that is intimate, accessible, and fun, while maintaining the highest possible artistry.
