Pilgrim Hall Museum will host a special benefit performance of “Revolutionary Voices: Plymouth Debates Liberty & Loyalists,” an original one-act play on the deliberations of Plymouth’s Committee of Correspondence leading up to the American Revolution. Written by historian Patrick T.J. Browne, Executive Director of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society, the play is drawn from authentic resolutions, letters, and documents, and features commentary from Revolutionary Plymouth patriot Mercy Otis Warren, a trailblazing political thinker during a time of extraordinary change. Immediately after the performance, acclaimed Mercy Otis Warren biographer Nancy Rubin Stuart joins in a lively audience Q&A with the play’s author and cast. Presented in partnership with the Plymouth Antiquarian Society and the Mercy Otis Warren Society, and with support of the Duxbury Chapter DAR and Eastern Bank, the ticketed event will be held 6 to 8:30 pm and includes light refreshments and cash bar.
The benefit event includes an “Adopt An Artifact” silent auction with opportunities to donate to the conservation and exhibition of objects owned by Mercy Otis Warren, including her exquisitely wrought needlework card table, and items associated with Wampanoag visionary Zerviah Gould Mitchell, including fragile manuscript records of Indigenous and other soldiers in the Revolutionary War.
