As we hit the streets for Pride this year, new horrors await the one million Palestinians taking refuge in Rafah. As long as this genocide continues, the fight to overthrow Netanyahu and his western backers is the most urgent struggle for workers and oppressed people everywhere. That is why the communists are bringing the fight for Palestinian liberation into the movement and linking up the fight against genocide with the fight to end oppression. Imperialism and oppression have the same root cause: the capitalist system. The capitalists whip up all sorts of prejudices whenever their system is in crisis and cannot provide a tolerable life for working people, to divide and distract us from the real source of our problems: capitalism itself.
In recent years, living conditions have worsened for the working class. In this context, the media and politicians across Canada have incited transphobia and repealed protections for trans youth in several provinces. It is also in this context that those same pundits and politicians have blamed all ills of capitalism on recent immigrants, and that the US Supreme Court has repealed Roe v. Wade.
You can’t have capitalism without imperialism.
You can’t have capitalism without oppression.
That is why we at this year’s Pride, the communists, say:
Fight imperialism with revolution!
Fight oppression with revolution!
One solution: communist revolution!
