About this Event
19:00 - Doors
20:00 - Rev21
Rev21 is a London based collective that fuses jazz and gospel with elements of funk in a unique blend that brings together both composition and spontaneity. Formed in 2021 and inspired by the 21st chapter of the biblical book of Revelation - all about new creation - the music is infused with messages of hope, joy and love.
Releasing their debut album, 'Let Them Hear' marks the end of a formational year for Rev21, who had their debut performance at Big Church Festival for in May. They regularly performing around London and further afield with a repertoire consisting largely of original material and reimagined gospel songs, bringing them outside the church building and into the club. With a deep admiration for jazz, improvisation plays a big part in shaping Rev21’s musical soundscape, but punchy horn lines, sung verses, looped grooves and collective improvisation brings the music far away from being a string of solos. Blurring the lines between instrumental and vocal music, Rev21’s sets are varied, vibrant and vivacious!.
