About this Event
Welcome to fitness without borders! Pole walking, also known as Nordic walking or urban poling, is cross-country skiing without the skis. It was developed by Olympic fitness trainers to help athletes stay in shape during the months they couldn’t ski. Because it is easy to learn, provided numerous health benefits, and is a fun way to exercise while exploring the great outdoors, it became popular throughout Europe and the US. It is a full body work out that uses 90% of your muscles. Exercise any time, any where. Poles are like having a portable elliptical machine and can provide a flexible, low-cost way for busy people to stay healthy and connected.
Once you complete your online registeration and return the liability waiver & drivers license photo, I will send you instructional videos on pole set up and pole walking technique. This will jump start your park instruction - no need to memorize anything! We will practice, practice, practice under the flag pole. After completing warm up stretches, we will hit the Soccer Path to try out our new skills!
Soccer Path (see map below): .76 miles; circles the entire soccer complex. While walking among the pine forest and wildflowers, observe Lakeland's finest young athletes practicing and competing.
