About this Event
Open Theatre are excited to announce RETURN TO WONDERLAND, our summer programme of immersive theatre sessions happening across Birmingham and Coventry for young people with disabilities and their families and carers.
After a succesful tour in Summer 2025 we’re bringing the sessions with new sets, characters and music inspired by the themes and characters of Alice in Wonderland, promising to be a fun exploration of sensory and musical experiences, created by our Open Theatre practitioners and artists.
This two-hour immersive experience is created with accessibility, fun, and family connection in mind. Everyone is welcome—siblings, carers, and extended family included.
Ticket Price:
Tickets cost £5 per group attending, covering all participants and parent/carers, therefore, you only need to book one ticket for your group. You will then have the opportunity to fill out a booking form to clarify how many people are coming.
We can offer ‘pay as you feel’ option if cost is a barrier to attending, or if you would like to donate more to support the show.
What to Expect:
- A playful and interactive Open Theatre session.
- A specially designed sensory exploration space—imaginative, hands-on, and engaging for all.
- A calm and cosy break-out area to take a breather whenever needed.
We believe that all behaviour is communication and encourage every participant to come as they are. Our sessions are relaxed, non-judgemental, and full of heart.
Once you book your place, you’ll receive a simple form where you can share your young person’s individual needs and preferences, so we can make the day as comfortable and joyful as possible. Prefer to chat? We’re happy to arrange a phone call to talk through your access needs in more detail.
Spaces are limited, so we can keep the sessions small, supported, and meaningful for every family.

About the Space
At each location we aim for the immersive space to be welcoming to all attendees by including:
- An immersive space designed for wheelchair users
- A breakout space to rest
- A blender for people who have a blended diet
- Multiple staff members so that families can access support as needed
- Adaptive performances and workshops to suit the engagement of each individual
Once you book your place we will send you an access pack which will let you know how to reach the venue space.
