About this Event
If you are feeling burnt out and fatigued during this time of year, it may be time for an energetic shift in your body. The darkest days of the year offer us opportunities to dive more deeply into our more subtle ways of being. We’re called to spend more time indoors, by ourselves, letting the dust of the year settle in our minds and bodies. The shortest, darkest day of the year has been held sacred for quiet reflection and restoring hope.
December 21 marks the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s the official start to winter, and the initiation of light returning to the sky as the days lengthen, bringing the promise of spring.
The Winter Solstice is a perfect time to realign with our goals and ideals in preparation for the year ahead. It is a time to dive deep, celebrate, and refocus our direction for the season to come. Contemplating and refining intentions leads us to our path and illuminates our way along it – from the faded past, through the darkness of winter, toward the bright future. There is also a simple yet profound observation of the stillness between the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. This is a time to reflect and assimilate all of the wisdom, thoughts and feelings that have been cultivated in the dark, and bring them into the light. Let us celebrate the darkness just as much as we welcome the return of the sun's radiance.
This workshop will be a mix of flowing through a grounding vinyasa flow practice, slowing down with yin yoga and learning soothing breath techniques (an essential quality to cultivate during the busy holiday season).
The final section of this workshop is an immensely powerful meditation - Yoga Nidra or Yogic Sleep. As you rest in Savasana you will be guided to a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, enabling you to restore the body, senses, and mind to its natural function and awaken a seventh sense that will allow you to see wholeness, tranquility and well-being.
It is open to all levels.
