Immerse yourself in the spectacular natural environment of Kangaroo Island and allow yourself to be challenged & supported and uplifted & grounded over 4 days and 3 nights of deep (re)connection to nature & self.

Together with opportunities to step beyond your known limitations, there will also be time for reflection, for conversation, for meditation and for surrender to the ebb & flow of nature’s intentions.

Each experience offered has been consciously selected for its connection to the natural world, and purposefully arranged to create an environment for self-exploration and provide a catalyst for meaningful personal transformation.

On this experience you’ll be guided by highly experienced breathwork facilitator, Kym Burls, and Wim Hof Method instructor & island local, Amy Pysden.

Who is this for?

• Anyone, 18 years and older, looking for a challenge, a change or a connection
• From nature-lovers to city-dwellers and everyone in between, all are welcome
• The bushwalk requires an agility level capable of walking 5 km over rocky terrain (optional activity)
• No previous breathwork or ice bath experience is necessary (but is absolutely welcomed)

What’s included?

• Our aim is for you to arrive and have us take care of everything else!
• Return passenger fare from Cape Jervis on the Sealink ferry (saving you $110)
• Bunkhouse-style shared accommodation for 4 days and 3 nights
• All bedding, including pillows, sheets and blankets, soaps and shampoos & towels
• All yoga mats, cushions and blankets
• All meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks
• There will be plant- and meat-based options available (please advise us of any dietary requirements)
• All drinks, including water, coffee, tea & juice
• This is an alcohol-free event

What’s not included?

• You will need to organise transport to Cape Jervis (we'll collect you from Penneshaw)
• If you would prefer to bring your car, you will need to book it onto the ferry
• A detailed information sheet with ferry information and carpooling ideas will be provided on booking
• We will connect you with other retreat attendees via a WhatsApp group for carpooling and other logistical discussions

Location & accommodation information:

• Island Alive is situated on a 7 acre native bush block adjacent to Pelican Lagoon Conservation Park - a three minute drive from Island Beach and a 15 minute drive from the ferry terminal at Penneshaw
• The retreat accommodation has 3 dormitory rooms, each with 3 single beds, plus a camper trailer & large glamping tent (both offered at a discounted rate)
• While we aim to allocate same sex rooms, this is not guaranteed. Speak to us before booking if you require this
• On-site amenities include a traditional sauna, outdoor shower, cold plunge & hot tub
• There are 2 bathrooms with a toilet and shower in each
• Communal dining with ample lounging and hammock comfort
• Cosy kitchen and living space with pot-belly fire and dishwasher

• Out of precaution, we advise against participation during pregnancy (or breastfeeding), or if you are epileptic.
• People with cardiovascular issues, or any other serious health conditions (e.g. high blood pressure, COPD) or those with Raynaud's disease (Type 2) or cold urticaria should always get in touch with the instructor and consult a medical professional before signing up. If you have specific questions relating to your condition, please contact your instructor beforehand.

Kym Burls

Kym is an accomplished breathwork coach and former Wim Hof Method instructor based in Adelaide. Since 2019 he’s introduced +2,000 people to the life-changing practices of breathwork and cold training.

A Kangaroo Island local, Amy combines her degree in eco-tourism with her Wim Hof Method instructor expertise, to beautifully integrate the natural world into her teaching. She is also busy developing her piece of property on KI to facilitate Wim Hof Method nature immersion experiences.
