Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Review the broad spectrum of genetic and phenotypic heterogeneity associated with retinitis pigmentosa.
- Evaluate objective and subjective assessment tools that may improve the workup of individuals suspected to have retinitis pigmentosa.
- Recognize the need for genetic counseling and testing, as well as prompt referral to a specialized clinic, to improve outcomes in patients with inherited retinal diseases.
- Assess new evidence about the use of gene therapy in the treatment of patients with X-linked retinitis pigmentosa.
Target Audience
The intended audience for this activity is retina specialists and other health care professionals involved in the management of patients with retinitis pigmentosa.
