About this Event
Rethinking Religion is a discussion group that invites people to wrestle with difficult questions, paradoxes, and deeply held beliefs. We create space to share personal experiences, explore new perspectives, and learn together. Come Learn, Share or just listen to a conversation about God and Racism.
The Black Church has historically played a vital role in advancing social justice and equality, but some modern expressions have been weakened by toxic positivity, prosperity theology, and alignment with Christian supremacy. Faith deconstruction is a reflective movement that challenges inherited beliefs and reexamines religious institutions through lenses such as race, class, gender, economics, and history. This community prioritizes moral integrity, lived experience, and meaningful action over rigid doctrine, offering a compassionate space for people questioning faith, confronting contradictions, and seeking a deeper, more inclusive way to live out their beliefs.
