About this Event
We're back!
While we're still recovering from having to close Dymocks Camberwell, and Henk's health is still not the best, we're going to do a trial event to see if we can resume our First Tuesday Book Club events, with Dymocks Tooronga as the organiser.
We have kept the price as low as possible, in fact we're taking a hit even at this price, but we hope we can still count on our fantastic customers, supporters, and author fans, to book and join us for these previously hugely popular events, at the Rivoli Cinemas.
We would love to restart this event regularly, but that will depend on the support we get for this November one! So please book and share, invite your friends and family - there's fiction, non-fiction, young adult fiction, and a picture book, so it's autographed books for everyone this Christmas!
We are thrilled to be able to restart our First Tuesday Book Club, in conjunction with Rivoli Cinemas, for 2024. Obviously because of Cup Day, as usual, we're unable to do the actual First Tuesday in November, so please excuse the anomaly.
Tickets are $40 each and include entry, a welcome drink, and a selection of canapes served prior to the presentation. Plus, a FREE reading copy from our free book selection, as donated to us by our lovely publishers.
The authors joining us so far (hopefully with more to come) are:
Kate Mildenhall - To Stir With Love (picture book) and The Hummingbird Effect (adult fiction)
Kate Mildenhall is an author, writing teacher and podcaster. Her debut novel Skylarking was longlisted for Debut Fiction in the 2017 Indie Book Awards and the 2017 Voss Literary Prize.
Hummingbird Effect:
An epic, kaleidoscopic story of four women connected across time and place by an invisible thread and their determination to shape their own stories, from the acclaimed author of The Mother Fault.
To Stir With Love:
From the acclaimed author, and bestselling illustrator, this beautiful, heartfelt collaboration celebrates the magic of grandmothers (and their secret recipes).
‘It’s my everything cake,’ Grandma says. ‘My grandmother’s grandmother gave it to her, and my grandmother gave it to me.’
Kathy Mexted - Take Flight: Incredible stories of Australian women who reach for the sky
Kathy Mexted is a writer, photographer and editor. Inspired by her father, she learnt to fly in 1991, before she became a writer.

Before writing novels he was a screenwriter, film reviewer, cocktail columnist, PR consultant and communications adviser in the suicide prevention sector. He lives among the trees with his art therapist superstar wife, hilarious son and a moodle majestically named 'Mufasa'.
'I met my husband on the same day I committed my very last M**der. There's a joke in there somewhere, about ending two men's lives.'
Olivia Hodges used to do horrible things – back when she worked for a Spanish crime syndicate – but she fled that life and moved home to Australia, building a family in the hipster community of the Dandenong Ranges.
