Restorative yoga is a style of yoga that supports deep relaxation and the practice of being present with ourselves. As we witness ourselves with tenderness, there is a space that opens up in us where compassion arises encouraging physical, mental, and emotional recalibration. Appropriate for all levels, restorative yoga is practiced at a slow pace, focusing on long holds, stillness, and deep breathing. During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body are benefited, and a few of the measurable results of deep restoration are the reduction of blood pressure, improvement of immune function, as well as improvement in digestion, elimination, and the reduction of muscle tension. In Restorative Yoga we use props such as blankets, straps, bolsters, chairs, sandbags, eye bags and more to support us in our practice. We invest time and care setting up these props so that when we practice, they support us fully and we may profoundly relax and simply BE.
