Come and get your Easter chocolate the healthy way!We will share a cup of ceremonial grade cacao and then enjoy a gentle and relaxing restorative yoga practice.
Cacao is a superfood. It is plant medicine at its finest. Its scientific name, Theobroma cacao, translates to "food of the Gods."
Containing many minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients such as flavonoids and antioxidants, it is also an extremely potent adaptogen that encourages the body to come into balance.
Cacao has a particularly strong influence on the heart – both physiologically and energetically. Cacao anecdotally is reported to enhance connection in community, hence its beauty in being shared in circle.
In my experience, cacao seems to enhance whatever it is that you are doing – be it running a marathon or meditating – cacao can make you go deeper, further, longer, stronger. However she does seem to have a mind of her own so be open to the experience she offers you – it may not always go quite how you planned!
Cacao is very safe and tolerated well by most people. However it is to be used with caution by people who are taking high doses of SSRIs. Cacao releases serotonin, so it works as a mild antidepressant. When taken with SSRIs that release serotonin chemically it can lead to serotonin syndrome. Individuals taking MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) should avoid consuming ceremonial cacao due to potential interactions.
Restorative yoga is a practice of deep relaxation in which yoga poses (asanas) are held for several minutes with the use of props such as blocks, bolster and blankets to support the body in gentle stretch.
When your body enters a state of relaxation, your mind will also relax. Once you have been guided to let go of any tension held in your body, all that is required is for you to pay attention to your breath, becoming aware of any thoughts that may arise, and then gently releasing them.
This restful practice calms both mind and body, allowing the nervous system to enter its parasympathetic state – the state of “rest and digest”, in which healing is enabled and enhanced.
This class is suitable for all; no previous experience is required.
Most props are provided but feel free to bring your own yoga mat for extra comfort as well as a cushion, blanket, socks and an eye pillow if you have one.
Cost is $35. Please PM or message me on 0275 761 716 to reserve your spot.
