About this Event

Approaches and Tools for K-12 School Communities

Conflict is a normal and expected part of social dynamics and may stem from differing ideas, perspectives or values, power imbalances, or limited resources. Across cultures, there are many common themes to how conflict is expressed and managed, yet the social and cultural context of a student’s experience, particularly in International Schools, also plays a major role.




Gain evidence-based, best practices for building and repairing relationships.

You will learn effective ways to teach and practice SEL tools, including:

  • Reflective Listening
  • Assertive Communication
  • Self Advocacy
  • Exploring Boundaries and Paying Attention to Others’
  • Proactive Ways to Build Empathy
  • Foundation for Productive and Transformational Conflict Resolution
  • Explore how cultures and histories inform our approach to conflict resolution
  • Discuss how students learn about conflict and conflict resolution from the media, peers, and their families



Workshop Goals:

This workshop seeks to inspire and equip educators with evidence-based, best practices for building and repairing relationships.

  • Learn age-appropriate proactive and responsive approaches and for Peace Building and Conflict Resolution.
  • Gain an understanding of the role of culture and context in sustainable approaches for Peace Building and Conflict Resolution.
  • Provide opportunities for professional and professional renewal and reflection.

Cancellation Policy

Registration fees will be refunded at 50% of the registration ticket price paid, less the $50 refund processing cost, if requested in writing more than two-weeks prior to the start of the course. From two weeks prior to the start of the course until the day before the course begins, refunds requested in writing will be granted a credit for the full value of their registration ticket price.
