Educators, staff and students have been under an extraordinary amount of stress these past few years. As we continue to navigate challenging circumstances, it is a critical time to work on building strong, healthy communities in our schools so that everyone can feel safe and supported. Restorative Practices offers a path to do this.

In this training, we will discuss Restorative Practices philosophy and mindset, and spend time on tools and skills that can help strengthen relationships and build stronger classroom communities. We will learn and practice "restorative conversation" as a model for conflict resolution. We will practice facilitating both proactive and responsive circles. The training will provide a space for discussion and interactive learning.

Restorative Practices is an emerging social science that studies how to strengthen relationships between individuals as well as social connections within communities. Restorative Practices are used proactively to build community, strengthen relationships, value different perspectives, and communicate in healthy ways. Restorative Justice is part of Restorative Practices and gives us an alternative response to wrongdoing that focuses on accountability and collaboration to repair harm.

“The fundamental premise of restorative practices is that people are happier, more cooperative and productive, and more likely to make positive changes when those in authority do things WITH them, rather than TO them or FOR them.” --Ted Wachtel, International Institute for Restorative Practices

**Please note lunch and snacks will be provided, participants will have half an hour for lunch.
